Writing can be a lonely
activity . . .
If you try to share it with your family, they
may tell you you're a genius or advise you to
forget it and stick with your day job.
The only ones who will truly understand what
you're doing are your fellow writers. Join TWA
and move off WRITER'S BLOCK into a supportive
WRITER'S BLOC, where you can polish your skills
and learn, from accomplished local writers, how
to become a published writer.
The Tallahassee Writers' Association is a
dynamic organization of writers, published and
unpublished, most of whom live in the Greater
Leon County area of North Florida. TWA's purpose
is to provide fellowship and promote skills
among area writers to help them develop their
craft and get their writings published.
TWA members practice their craft in many
different genres – poetry, non-fiction, mystery,
horror, science-fiction, and romance. They are
novelists, journalists, poets, magazine feature
writers, playwrights, and short-story writers.

A brief history of TWA:
Howard Libin, a local magazine editor, founded
TWA in 1984; hoping to cultivate a group of
non-fiction writers in the Tallahassee Area. As
the Tallahassee Area Nonfiction Writers'
Association expanded in membership, it also grew
in its diversity of talents. In 1988, the
organization changed its name to the Tallahassee
Writers' Association so that it might serve the
interests of all writers.
TWA is recognized as a tax-exempt
organization by the Internal Revenue Service
under section 501(c)3. |
