Celtic Knots Playwriting Contest
Sponsored by Tallahassee Irish Society and Tallahassee Writers Association
Ireland has a rich history, filled with conflict and triumph, literature and
music. What is seen externally in the land of endless beauty is not always
apparent in the inner life of those who lived through past oppressions with
great love of land and liberty. From keeping literature alive in dank monastic
cells to the modern romance of lovers reaching across the religious divide, the
stories of the great green county cry out to be heard. Some are tragic, many are
funny. The quirks and foibles of a grand people whether north or south have
touched the imaginations of all.
Tell the stories of then and now. The collected
memories of a people who endured and kept alive a culture are waiting to be told
on stage.
